Know your Lateral Limits

If you were forwarded this Walking Point email, you can sign up here and never miss it again.

In the military, on every live-fire range, before training can begin, all shooters are briefed on the safety aspects of the range, specifically when they can shoot, where they can shoot, and what weapons they can shoot.

Each range is built to allow for safe training within certain limitations.

The left and right lateral limits are of notable importance, especially on ranges where shooters are moving. The red lines in the image above depict these limits.

Shooting outside of these limits means that the rounds could potentially impact another training area or road that is in use.

We can set lateral limits for ourselves to keep us attacking in the right direction by deciding how far left or right we are willing to deviate from the azimuth that leads to our goal.

If you have read my book, Tough Rugged Bastards, thanks for helping make it a best-seller. I would really appreciate it if you would leave an honest review on Amazon. Thanks!
